Summer Bundles
Sunday just gone here in Perth, summer paid us a short visit with a 35 degree day. This got me thinking, what on earth am I going to wear this summer? It didn't take long to work out that woven shorts and knit t-shirts were going to the most comfortable and therefore my summer uniform, hence the Summer Bundle was born.
The Summer Bundle will consist of 1.5 metres of woven fabric and two 1 metre cuts of knit fabric. Of course, you can do whatever you like with these cuts of fabric but what we had in mind was a pair of shorts or a skirt in the woven and two coordinate t-shirts in the knit.
Over the weekend I sewed up the Forever Young Summer Bundle and the Impressionist in Black Summer Bundle. Here is what I came up with:
Forever Young Summer Bundle
With Forever Young cotton/linen I made Getaway Shorts by Pattern Emporium. These are short length, cuffed with topstitched enclosed waistband. Your bundle will include 1.5 metres of woven but I only had 1 metre which worked well for my shorts.
Both of my t-shirts are also by Pattern Emporium, they are the Be You Tee, hilo hem and mid neckline. The first is made out of Pink Bamboo and the second is Navy Rayon Modal.....I just LOVE both of these t-shirts!!!
These outfits are both lovely to wear, they are cool, comfortable and I think they look pretty good too.
Impressionist in Black Summer Bundle
For this Summer Bundle I again used the Getaway Shorts by Pattern Emporium. This time I added some Black Cotton Trim ( no need to hem when you do this....winning!!) and I used Black Sparkle Exposed Elastic for the waist, it is so quick and easy to do and even better it looks fantastic!! These shorts were so quick to make.
My t-shirts to coordinate with these shorts are the Green Tee by Greenstyle Creations in Maroon Rayon Modal and the Stardust Tank by Halla in Purple double brushed poly, both of these patterns are free with a code from the designers Facebook groups.
Now, we all come in different shapes and sizes so you might be wondering how this bundle could work for you, we have some ideas for you. While this bundle was initially created to make a skirt or shorts out of the woven and a couple of t-shirts out of the knit another option is to make a kimono out of the woven with some knit tops to wear underneath. If you like our original idea here are some patterns that we found which will work with the fabric provided in these bundles:

La Bella Donna by Love Notions

There will be many more patterns that will work within the fabric measurements, these are just the tip of the iceberg.
Now, how do you get one of these bundles I hear you ask? We will be releasing them during this weeks Sew it's Wednesday. Sew it's Wednesday is a release that happens at 6pm WST on Wednesday's on the Lush website, it can be something different every week, often our Sew it's Wednesday items sell out very quickly so it might be worthwhile to be logged in to your account ready to check out when they become available.
We can't wait to see what you create with your Summer Bundles
Hi – I have never sewn anything but wanted to try to make my hubby a summer PJ longtop. How do I buy just 1 fabric? I think bamboo might be the lightest/softest material.
Awesome idea Tracey, makes choices easier if you want 👌
Thank you! As a beginner sewist I enjoyed reading this post. I appreciate the fabric recommendations and pattern suggestions. The photos were gret for reference aswell (and they look fantastic!).
What a great idea. Me thinks I’ll have to be quick
